Writing Through Cancer

Facilitator: Sharon Bray, Ed.D. Best known for her innovative work using expressive writing with cancer patients, Dr. Sharon Bray is the author of A Healing Journey:  Writing Together Through Breast Cancer, (AWA Press, 2004), When Words Heal:  Writing Through Cancer (Frog Books, 2006) and co-editor of Learning to Live Again, a cancer survivors’ anthology (Stanford University School of Medicine, 2007.) For the past 17 years, she has designed and led “Writing Through Cancer” workshops at a number of major California cancer centers and support organizations, including Stanford and Moores UCSD. Her work has been featured in a number of healthcare publications.

Please note Writing Through Cancer is a virtual support group that requires a meeting with Program staff prior to your first attendance.

Support groups are not operated on a drop-in basis. We encourage commitment to the entire 6-week.  A commitment to the group helps to build community and allows for topics and conversations to be built on week by week.

Required Technology

  • Computer, phone or tablet with a camera
