GCGT Workshop: When Families are Facing Cancer: Preparing a Toolbox for Challenging Times- March 10, 2021, 6:00-7:00 pm

Join us for this unique interactive workshop, where we come together as a community and share what supports us when we are facing challenging times. Please note this session is open to families who are navigating an active cancer diagnosis.

When there is a cancer diagnosis in your family it can be a complex life-changing event, which many families are left to navigate together in a new profound way.  We often plan for the treatment of cancer and the impact on the family. We connect to families and friends to help us with every day; who is going to pick up the kids from school, bring meals or take me to treatment?  Do we ever plan for the potentially challenging aspects of cancer? What happens if hospitalization is required, a life-limiting diagnosis is received, or death due to the cancer diagnosis occurs?

We invite Parents, Guardians and adult family members who care for children under the age of 18 to join us for an open conversation and workshop on how you can build a Toolbox for these challenging times. Think about if you were creating an emergency kit for a natural disaster; you may never need to use it but perhaps one day it could be an important tool that will not just allow you to survive but thrive. We hope by discussing and planning, your family will have the ability to cope during these challenging times.

GCGT Workshop: When Families are Grieving: A conversation on navigating grief- March 18, 2021, 6:00-7:00 pm

Grief is not a linear event, nor are the coping styles and mechanisms of one individual familyThe loss of a loved one may create a shift in family dynamics, and what worked one day for families, may now have been adapted and changed within the family unit

We invite Parents, Guardians and adult family members who care for children under the age of 18, to connect and share with one another, what works best for their individual family as they navigate their world of grief and begin healing

We are a diverse and multicultural community; however, we share a common bond of experiencing a significant loss from cancer. Please join us for a conversation around diverse families, how they process their grief and share with others tools that are helpful for your family in navigating your grief as a family.
