For 19 years, the Mackenzie Investments Charitable Foundation has supported Gilda’s Toronto. For the Foundation, it’s all about giving back.
“We really appreciate everything that you do,” said Merriam Haffar, one of the two Foundation co-chairs. “We’re so proud to be partners and supporters of this incredible work.”
Last year marked 25 years of the Foundation and they reached their goal of donating $1 million to charities in one year.
But the Foundation does more than give money. They have an employee match program, they hold lunch and learn sessions with their charity partners and Mackenzie employees volunteer at the charities they support.
“The employee engagement element is so critical for us,” said Haffar. “The foundation was designed with engagement in mind, both employee and community engagement. We wanted this to be a way in which we give back to the communities that we are so closely entwined with and that’s why we focus on local grassroots charities.”
The Foundation understands the importance of Gilda’s Toronto. “We’re so proud of the work that you do, such as the commitment to emotional and practical support to cancer patients and their families,” said Haffar. “Many in our community have used your services. The phrase ‘no one should face cancer alone’ deeply resonates with our own values of community support. We strongly believe in programs to help reduce isolation and stress.”
Haffar said that the Foundation is proud to support Gilda’s Toronto. “Thank you so much for everything that you do for us and everything that you do for the community.”
The Foundation’s volunteers will be assisting with the creation of packages for the Gilda’s Toronto Children and Youth support groups in the Fall of 2025.
