Become a Volunteer
"There are those who open their hearts to others…who never think twice about giving of themselves.
They are the wonderful warm-hearted people who make all the difference in our lives."
- Gilda Radner
Thank you so much for your inquiry about volunteering with Gilda’s Club! Below is some additional information about volunteering and the steps to follow to start the process.
*Reminders: the steps to follow to become a volunteer:
1) Complete the application form (Volunteer Application Form) and submit to the Coordinator. If you have a current resume, you can send it along with your application.
2) Attend an Orientation and Training Session - Upcoming session date: Wednesday September 18th 5-8pm - Reserve a seat today!
3) Attend a personal interview with the Coordinator. This will be booked at the Orientation.
4) Complete two references (Email Reference Form). The forms are for you to send to your references. Instructions for them are on the form.
5) A vulnerable person’s police check is required for volunteering. We will have you complete the form at the interview and we will submit it to Toronto Police Services. We require a $20.00 deposit for the police check and when you return the form to us when it is mailed to you, we return the deposit to you. We pay $20 for each police check so the deposit ensures we receive the forms back. Checks take a few weeks to be returned to you. If you live outside Toronto, you will have to acquire the check in your city/town.
*Once all steps are completed we will book your volunteer start date and role orientation here at Gilda’s Club!
