Gilda’s Toronto works with health professionals and community partners to enhance the standard of care for people affected by cancer.
How Gilda’s Toronto works in partnership with healthcare professionals:
- We share our cancer-specific resources with healthcare professionals.
- We invite healthcare professionals to attend our educational seminars on a wide variety of topics presented by health industry professionals. Topics include navigating disruptions in work, school and home life, the naturopathic approach to cancer fatigue, healthy nutrition for cancer, a series on death and dying and medical play to support children of oncology patients.
- Physicians, oncologists and nurses frequently refer patients, their families and caregivers to Gilda’s Toronto as a community resource during and post-treatment.
- Health experts contribute to our board and program Committees.
Gilda’s Toronto makes educational presentations at conferences at the invitation of other healthcare organizations. Recently, we have presented to Young Adult Cancer Canada, the Canadian Alliance for Children’s Grief, Lymphoma Canada, Princess Margaret Hospital, Colorectal Cancer Canada and SickKids Hospital.
